The feature drops, streamers scream, and Asmongold… threatens bans?

When the new “1,000 sub gift” button rolled out, a viewer immediately used it on Emiru, who reacted like someone had just handed her the launch codes. Confusion, shock, mild horror, the whole emotional buffet.
Meanwhile, other creators started sounding the alarm.
Ludwig called it what it clearly was, Twitch’s latest attempt to vacuum loose money out of viewer pockets, all while the mobile app barely loads notifications.
VTubers started worrying about viewers donating money they don’t have, and honestly, same. If Twitch gives you a big shiny red “Give $5,000” button, someone somewhere is absolutely going to click it on impulse at 3am.
And then came Asmongold, the voice of chaos and unexpected common sense.
He announced, very calmly, that if anyone ever gifts him 1,000 subs, he will instantly permanently ban them.
Imagine donating $5,000 and getting rewarded with a lifetime ban.
Peak Twitch. Peak Asmon.
Chargebacks, debt nightmares, and Twitch’s cut

Creators also raised another big concern - chargebacks.
If someone gifts 1,000 subs and then refunds it, the streamer could be left holding a bill so large it could summon physical nausea. And let’s not forget Twitch’s 30 to 50 percent cut, meaning a big chunk of that $5k goes straight to Amazon’s snack drawer.
So yes, the entire platform went:
“No thank you, please remove the giant bankruptcy button.”
Twitch quietly pulls the feature… sort of
After about 24 hours of everyone yelling, Twitch removed the 1,000-sub bundle.
But here’s the catch, multiple creators pointed out they're running a 35 percent sale until December 1, so Twitch may have just pulled it temporarily because the discounted price would have made the math weird.
Translation, the button may return.
Twitch didn't learn anything. They just paused.
The hilarious part? The backlash was unanimous

This might be the first time in years that Twitch streamers, big and small, agreed on something.
Nobody wants this.
Nobody needs this.
Nobody wants to deal with the emotional, financial, or logistical fallout of a $5,000 joke donation.
Even the rich streamers don’t want it. When Asmongold, a multi-millionaire gamer who owns more rare mounts than some countries have GDP, says:
“Please do NOT give me $5,000 or I will ban you,”
that’s when you know Twitch overshot the runway.
